Over in our neck of the woods, we have busy getting ready for fall and the holidays and somehow time turned into October! Wow, we have been busy with stationery, among other things! What have we been up to?
- Preparing for fall festivals and the holidays! We have a few fun local festivals on the horizon, so we are printing and trying to prepare for those. We love a good fest, especially in the fall. What’s better than good music, good food, beer and cool weather? Not much!
- The Holiday season is upon retailers; however, this is a less than stellar economy (to put it mildly!). So! We are talking to our friends in retail and hoping for the best, while realizing that people are watching their wallets. Because we understand the need to watch the budget, we will be offering deals throughout the season. Also, we are involved in a few local business events where we’ll be putting our name out and trying to “keep it local!”
- Doing a few custom pieces on request, we will show you the finished result. Adding a few fall designs and more Christmas designs! Watch out for them!
- In the event of our own budget, we have been cooking more at home and trying new recipes! Why spend extra money on pre-packaged desserts, when we all know that made from scratch cookies are divine. And. So. Much. Cheaper. Last week, I made pound cake and brownies from scratch, along with homemade chicken noodle soup and chili. Cooking from scratch tastes better, is cheaper and more healthy for you (ahem, minus the baked goods
! What is there to discuss? I call it cooking like my grandmother – it’s how she cooked for a family for decades.
- Admiring style in many places. Mad Men has me drooling for not only the clothing, but the decor in the homes. The design element of the show is genius and I love attention to detail – especially the clothing. It is fantastic and like many others, I love the return of the “Lady and Gentlemen.” In clothing that is, perhaps not what the Draper’s do in their spare time! The women look and exude confidence in their beautiful dresses and skirt combinations.
- Speaking of great style and wallet friendly items, I am digging Target for Paying Attention. They are creating great styles with reasonable prices. I like when businesses pay attention to what consumers like, and give it to them in a cheap package!
