Coyne and Pinckney Stationery

Who is Coyne? Who is Pinckney?

Coyne and Pinckney are the names of our grandmother’s (one married, one maiden). Our lives are inspired and motivated by the heritage of our ancestors and our families.  From fighting wars to planting crops and raising children, they have given us the tools to be the people we are today.

Coyne is a traditional Irish family name and represents the history of a small country that is big in the written word and communication.  It is an Irish heritage that is enchanting, hard working and tightly knit. The name Coyne  means wild 1208674050_fb10fb7709goose which is fitting,  since the goose quill is not only our symbol but also the traditional tool of written communication. The name is more closely associated with literary than with political or other activities; apart from the distinguished Jesuit , Father Coyne, Joseph Sterling Coyne (1803 – 1868), was a very well known playwright and satirist and was one of the founders of the English Punch. Reverend Joseph Coyne , P.P. (1839 – 1891), was also an author of repute and contributor to the Nation , as was John Coen (born circa 1820). The Coyne family name represents heritage in language, just like the Pinckney name.

Pinckney is a name that populates the South, especially in South Carolina.  It is a name that recalls history for many students but for us, represents family, love and a certain disposition for life.  Eliza Lucas Pinckney is a familiar figure because she was a 18th century entrepreneur and brought indigo to South Carolina as its major cash crop.  She was also the first woman inducted to the South Carolina Business Hall of fame.  Her son, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney signed the U.S. Constitution.

These are our family names and our history.  Coyne and Pinckney is dedicated to creating distinctive stationery that makes written communication all the more special.
